About Saloni

Saloni Kalkat

Saloni — known to her students as Ms. K — is an artist whose practice is rooted in painting, with a teaching portfolio that spans printmaking, painting, drawing, sketching, mixed media, and more.

After receiving her Master's in Art & Education from Pratt Institute in New York City, Saloni taught high school and middle school visual art at prestigious independent schools in Manhattan and the Bay Area.

Born & raised in the Bay Area, California — U.S. born, globally informed.

As an artist and educator, Saloni believes:

Art is a practice — like music or sport, it deepens over time. The more you make, the more you find your voice.
Exposure to a range of materials helps students discover what excites them and how they want to create as artists
Making art means making mistakes — and learning to grow from them

Everything you need to know before enrolling.

This studio is designed for students entering 4th, 5th, or 6th grade in Fall 2025 — that's rising 4th–6th graders. If you're unsure whether your child is the right fit, feel free to reach out directly.
No prior experience is necessary — just enthusiasm and a willingness to make things. Students who already love art will go deeper, and beginners will be surprised by what they create.
A full materials list will be sent before the first session. Everything is affordable and available at any art or craft store — nothing specialized or hard to find required.
Absolutely. Saloni will be teaching from NYC, and the studio is open to families anywhere. The listed times are Pacific Time — please plan accordingly if you're in a different time zone.
Because this is a cohesive experience, continuity really matters. If something comes up, please reach out and we'll do our best to find a solution.
If both siblings are in the right grade range, yes — reach out directly and we'll sort out enrollment together.
A second cohort running August 3–14 is being considered. If you're interested but can't make the June/July dates, join the waitlist and you'll be the first to know if Cohort 2 is confirmed.
